Family Yoga – February 2018 Update

Next session Sunday 29th April,
11.15am-12.15pm

We had a wintery Scottish theme for our last Family Yoga event on 28th Jan. We shared our ideas of all things Scottish, building our yoga journey around this theme from 3 legged hairy haggis pose, Scottie dogs, highland cat/cows and Scots Pine trees to name but a few!

We shared our blizzard breaths and helped Donald find his troosers during our musical mats pose game. Our partner postures got a few giggles, although it was lovely to see the cooperation between our older and younger yogis alike! Our body scan meditation allowed us to truly relax at the end of the session, allowing us to remain focused on the present moment, tuning ourselves into our mind, body and breath.

Come and join us on our next yoga journey in our spring themed lesson on 29th April. Book early as these classes often sell out.

Testimonials received speak for themselves:

“My two kids aged 3 and 6 attended family yoga on Sunday and it was fabulous and inspiring! Thanks Lynne we can’t wait for your next family yoga session!”

Kids Yoga Classes

Another successful block of happy mini yogis graduating!

Our winter Kids Yoga block started with Sophia’s Jungle Adventure, with a series of themed jungle poses , touching on the environmental concerns in rainforests. Our Halloween yoga saw us sequencing a full moon salutation and how when things seem a bit scary we can use our Rainbow Breath to calm us. We continued on our themes with The Grateful Giraffe, The Giant Panda Party, working towards winter and Christmas back drops to name but a few allowing us to touch on our feelings, emotions, thoughts and actions in a fun way! We introduced new types of breath work such as Cat’s Breath, undulating our spine with the breath allowing us to cleanse and brighten our minds and body.

Our older classes worked in partner postures which always prove popular, working together in a non competitive and our guiding star meditation really recentres and calms active minds at the end of a busy session.

Insight Yoga

Lynne recently attended an enlightening workshop at Triyoga in Camden with Sarah Powers.

Sarah Powers originally practiced yang styles of yoga like Ashtanga, Viniyoga and Iyengar, but discovered Yin yoga under the tutelage of Paul Grilley. Sarah now blends these yang and yin styles, encouraging the long held poses to enhance the meridian and organ systems with the mindful practices of Buddhism.

It is this style that Lynne now shares in her Yin Yang classes.

Family Yoga – September 2017

Next session: Sunday 28th Jan, 11.15am-12.15pm.

We welcomed autumn at our last Family Yoga event on 24th Sept. Our yogis brought in props and ideas of what they think of when they think of autumn. We did mindful tasks exploring the changes in the seasons, discussing the lifecycles of trees and the amazing differences in all the leaves falling at this time of year. We explored our hibernating bear breath, and went on an adventure on a forest walk through Gillies Hill finding yoga postures for the the things we saw along the way.

After our yoga games of musical mats and partner postures we settled into mindful meditation, bringing us back to the moment, feeling calm and relaxed.

Come and join us on our next yoga journey in our winter themed lesson on 28th Jan. Book early as these classes often sell out.
